SANTE MARIE – COSA MANGIARE (ENG)



 

 

In this section we deal with the typical dishes of the municipality of Sante Marie. The culinary products of the municipality are deeply linked to Abruzzese cuisine, and range from first courses to desserts. Let us see the main ones:

 

– First courses: for pasta dishes we have quagliatelli with beans, which represents a typical pasta dish made strictly in the house; then it is the turn of polenta with sausages, coming from the animals of the area.

 

– Second courses: for the latter we find the typical sheep kebabs, which represent the Abruzzo mountain cuisine.

 

– Dried fruit: The product par excellence of Sante Marie is certainly the chestnut, given the numerous trees present in the area. Several dishes and desserts come from this product. As evidence of its importance, we remind that the Chestnut festival takes place in Sante Marie, a typical event of the village for many years now. During the festival, in addition to chestnuts, desserts and dishes made with this product can be tasted, and then clearly the traditional dishes from both Sante Marie and Marsica.

 

– Desserts: among the typical sweets of the area there is the castagnaccio, which is nothing but a cake made with chestnut flour.
