If you decide to come and discover Celano, take a few days, because coming here means admiring so many things that one day is not enough. In fact, the town is full of attractions, starting with its medieval town planning, which sees the village huddle around its grandiose castle located on top of the town, in a continuous ups and downs of streets and various attractions.

In the path from the entrance base of Celano to the top with the castle, the entire village is an open-air museum with numerous attractions, including naturalistic ones, starting with its springs present in the village.

Let’s start from the base, entering the town whether you come from via di Paterno, from the motorway, or from the Altopiano delle Rocche, the town is a concentration of natural and cultural attractions starting with its museums which are one of the major attractions of this. If you come and can go directly to the castle and anter inside starting to visit it and visit its magnificent museum which includes two sections, one better than the other. The first regards the Sacred Art and the second the Roman culture in the Marsica.

Then after going through the grand museum, visit this grand and majestic castle, which is one of the best preserved manor houses in Europe, with a massive and imposing medieval structure.

Subsequently, depending on the time you have, also take a trip to the other large museum in the town, namely the Le Paludi Museum which is located just outside Celano in the Fucens area.

Here in the Le Paludi museum you will find an avant-garde architectural structure containing numerous archaeological finds that allow a precise reconstruction of the history of Marsica from the Paleolithic to the Roman age.

Once this is done, take a well-deserved break and go eat in one of the many restaurants in Celano and taste the many local products ranging from local salami and hams to typical local sweets. After that, turn around the town to admire its beautiful medieval structure and stop to admire the many churches present here, which are real treasure chests of art.

Among the numerous ancient churches of Celano, I especially recommend a visit to the beautiful church of Santa Maria Valleverde, a treasure trove of art from the 16th century, and the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie from the 11th century.

Typical are in fact the street disco evenings that enliven the rich nights of Celano. Admiring the castle at night is also beautiful, a real spectacle. Looking at it from below, the castle almost seems to fly in the air.
