What to do in Aielli? This is a question that has several answers and this due to the variety of offer that the village of Aielli and more generally its territory offers.

– A first answer concerns the possibility of trekking excursions in the area around Aielli taking this as a starting point.
Trakking in montagna
The Aielli area lends itself very well to naturalistic and geological excursions, starting with a visit to the canyon of the Celano Gorges. However, given the particularity and fragility of the territory, the excursion into the gorges must be done in maximum safety and therefore possibly to be avoided in the rainy season. The best time for the gorges is from June to September, therefore in the summer.

Other places to go hiking are Mount Secine or Mount Etra. With regard to Mount Etra we remind you that in the summer period, precisely on the last Sunday of August, the feast of the Cross takes place at the Prati S. Maria, which ends with an excursion to the top of Mount Etra where there is a cross in iron placed there back in 1988.

As mentioned above, there are other routes to do around Aielli and in this regard it is advisable to always do them with someone in tow, never alone.

and of course a visit to the famous Marsican Torre delle Stelle observatory, located in the ancient medieval tower. For the visit to the observatory, however, reservations are necessary, given the very high turnout present.

In this tour of the town you cannot miss a visit to the ancient churches of the town, namely the church of San Rocco and the church of the Holy Trinity. Next to the village of Aielli Alto, the neighboring center of Aielli Stazione with its church of San Giuseppe, one of the greatest examples of Fascist architecture in the Marsica, is also worth a visit.

In summer, the Borgo Universo Street Art festival has been taking place in Aielli for several years between July and August, a real international event for fans of this artistic sector. Other secular celebrations are the wine festival and the Gnocchi festival which take place in the first half of August.

At the religious level we have on May 9 the feast of the Madonna della Vittoria, which celebrates the patron saint of the village, through a beautiful evening procession which is followed by civil and religious celebrations.

Then, always in the summer, you can participate in the feast of the Patron Saints on 12 August complete with a traveling procession between the churches of San Rocco and SS. Trinity. Religious celebrations continue on the third Sunday of August with the feast of the Immaculate Conception at Aielli Stazione.
Finally, everything ends with the feast of the Cross, which takes place on the last Sunday of August which, as mentioned above, takes place at the Prati S. Maria and ends with the excursion to the top of Mount Etra. During the Christmas period we then have the torchlight procession of Peace organized by the Alpini Group.
